Romeo and Juliet epic love story still touches our hearts
The city of Verona, with its historic center, the fascinating squares and Palazzi, is a true protagonist of this play, as much as the immortal power of Romeo and Juliet obstructed love. So Verona becomes the perfect stage and the viewers, hand in hand with the characters, are led through a short version of Shakespeare’s masterpiece that is still able to enchant and touch the viewers’ hearts. A journey in the in the very places that inspired the Bard.
Teatro Stabile del Veneto is proud to present a cultural offering specifically dedicated to the city of Verona and to the love story of Romeo and Juliet. Following last year great success and to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death, the play will be back this summer in the very same places that inspired the Bard. The viewers will have the incredible opportunity to enjoy the most famous tragedy in the world performed in the streets and squares where it was originally set. The play will be presented in two versions, one in Italian and one in English, this was possible thanks to the collaboration with the renowned Kings Theatre Trust ltd in Portsmouth (Hampshire). In both versions there will be a narrator accompanying the viewers from one scene to the other. Being a travelling show, the play will start in the famous Juliet’s Courtyard and will continue in magical places like the Juliet’s Terrace at Teatro Nuovo and some of the most beautiful squares in Verona and then back to the Teatro Nuovo.
